Nothing Is Permanent

Dear Optimist,
I'll be honest, sometimes you annoy me. To be quite frank, you often compel me to bash my head repeatedly in hopes that I can block you out. In fact, you'd disregard these clearly negative thoughts as ones of some bullshit soul-searching, thought-provocative nonsense.
Why must everything be leading to a bigger meaning of inevitable strength and wisdom? Mistakes are mistakes. And people will always make them. Whether we grow from them or not does not make them less of a bad memory.
However, there are times you have pushed me through days I probably wouldn't have gotten through. Light you have given me despite my exhausting attempts at darkness. Opportunities you comforted me not to miss out on. And faith you have given me to know that nothing is permanent, not even my troubles.
There's always a different look on things; but in the end it's not them that's changing, it's you.
